There is no denying it… Christmas 2025 is soon to be upon us! We are geared up to host any occasion, in either the main bar or first floor Gin Library – you can expect a warm welcome, the best mulled cider or wine & Xmas jumpers a plenty!

Festive Menus & Opening

Whether you’re organising a work party or a great night out with family & friends, The Sun is the perfect place for all your celebrations. If you’re looking for something special have a look at our 3-course Festive Menu for £42 or our Party Menu with party boards to share. We will also have plenty of seasonal winter specials.

Please see our website for our full list of extended opening hours.  We will be open on Christmas Eve until midnight to see in Christmas Day with the best festive cocktails & plenty of Christmas cheer. Christmas Day & Boxing Day we are closed to give our fantastic team a well-deserved Christmas off with their friends & families.

FESTIVE FAIR

Our Festive Fair is back on Wednesday 3rd December from 7pm – join us under the fairy lights of our covered deck & in The Gin Library. The perfect evening to buy handmade & shop small & local for decorations, festive food, candles, jewellery, gifts & the best stocking fillers. With mulled sloe gin, cider & wine to keep you warm whilst you embrace all things festive.

WINTER WREATH WORKSHPOPS

Join Frankie Lane Flowers on Tuesday 2nd or Tuesday 9th December to design your own winter wreath & let your creativity run wild! You will learn how to create your own wreath from scratch using natural & seasonal materials. With a delicous glass of mulled wine & mince pie on arrival.

Children’s Christmas Craft

Our Christmas craft table will be back on Saturday 13th December from 11am where we will be decorating salt dough decorations that last a lifetime perfect for your tree or to give as a gift – with paint, ribbon & glitter! Please book to avoid disappointment as spaces are limited & it is always a big hit with the children!

 The Sun Christmas Quiz

The Sun Christmas Quiz is on Monday 15th December from 8pm & is £2 to enter per person with beer, mulled wine & mince pies to be won. Join us in  your best Christmas Jumper (for extra points) for a fun filled festive quiz with all our classic quiz rounds including design & decorate your own Christmas hat, heads & tails, the riddle, you pick the point & the ultimate festive wipeout.

New Years Eve at The Sun

So if your making New Year plans avoid the crowds, ditch the designated driver, stay local & celebrate the New Year in your favourite truly independant pub – good food, good drinks, good music & good times.  We can’t wait to celebrate with you – full details and tickets will be announced soon.

 The Sun Gift Card

If you are starting to hunt for that perfect present, why not give the gift of the pub this Christmas? The Sun Gift Card can be for any amount. Go on treat someone special & give them time out in their favourite local.

Monday Specials : Festive Burgers served with a mulled wine or mulled cider for £15

Festive OAP Lunch we offer a free 3 course lunch for people aged 70+ every month @ The Sun. At our very special OAP festive lunch on Wednesday 10th December, we give everyone a gift to take home from all of us at The Sun. If you would like to contribute small donations are being collected at the bar.

Earth Wind & Choir rehearse every Wed from 7-8.30pm in The Gin Library with Emily from @eclairmusic. Anyone can join, no auditions just come along your first session is free then £5 a session. We are all looking forward to their special Christmas carol performance at The Christmas Fair on Wednesday 3rd December.

Festive Sunday Roast we always have a choice of 5 roasts, plus our ever-popular trio with plenty of other classic options on offer. This means you can kick back relax & let us do the work. We have 3 sittings in the main pub & Gin Library. Booking is essential throughout the festive period & yes, we will have Turkey!

The Gin Library Private Hire is the perfect place for all your special events. If you have a special date in mind, please contact us as soon as possible as dates throughout the Christmas period & into 2026 are booking up fast. We can seat up to 40 people for a festive dinner party or up to 80 for a drinks party.

Stop Press Monday Festive opening we will be open on Monday 15th & 22nd & 29th December serving our winter seasonal menu  – with live music to get you all in the festive spirit on Monday 22nd.

After our New Year celebrations, we will then be closed for 4 days from Monday 5th to Thursday 8th Jan for our annual spruce up & team party to celebrate the start of a new year at The Sun.
